I debated whether to put it on my blog, since it's more personal than some other stuff... well I guess all my comedy's personal. Never mind. Here's the video:
#AlwaysBeDancing
Here's what I wrote on FB:
Hey, Friends,
Are you tired of me celebrating my relationship with Rob Blatt on Facebook, (especially when there are much bigger issues in the world)?
Well it's our 10th anniversary so, please SIU for one more day. (Besides, I've been phone banking since the primary.)
10 Fantastic YEARS! How do we keep the magic alive? It's not always easy. Relationships take work, you know.
Here are a few lessons I've learned, that I'll share with anyone still reading:
-Use "I statements" (FYI, "I feel like I'm right and you're wrong" doesn't count)
-Validate each other's opinions, ideas, and feelings (no matter how ridiculous)
-Have great friends (on Facebook but also IRL) who root for you and maybe even spent a lot to attend your wedding and thus have a stake in how your relationship turns out.
-Wait 10 years to make a wedding video, then finally digitize the footage and neglect your spouse and children while making a belated video with them in it (I still don't know if this will help or hurt my marriage. Keep you posted.)
-Most Important: ALWAYS BE DANCING.
